アリゲーターガーは、北米原産の巨大な淡水魚です。体長は最大3メートルを超え、体重は100キログラムにも達する個体も確認されています。吻が長く、鋭い歯が並んでいます。肉食性で、魚類、爬虫類、鳥類などを捕食します。

2024年5月、富山市の工事現場の水たまりでアリゲーターガーらしき魚が捕獲されました。体長は約1メートルで、数年前から生息していた可能性があるとのことです。アリゲーターガーは特定外来生物に指定されており、飼育や販売は原則禁止されています。
